Day 1

LONDON - AMSTERDAM

Greetings from your Tour Director before a scenic drive takes you to Dover for a short sea crossing to Calais. Continue through Belgian countryside finally reaching Amsterdam, where you will see the Mint Tower and Dam Square. This evening, join your Tour Director and fellow travellers for a Welcome Dinner and Drink on board an included canal cruise.

Day 2

AMSTERDAM - RHINE CRUISE - HEIDELBERG

This morning travel eastwards to Cologne to see the magnificent Cathedral. Then via Bonn to the Rhine Valley where you enjoy a Rhine cruise which disembarks near the Lorelei Rock. Later reach Heidelberg where you will enjoy magnificent views over the university city from the castle terraces.

Day 3

HEIDELBERG - BLACK FOREST - RHINE FALLS - LUCERNE (2 nights)

Today drive close by the Black Forest and then into Switzerland, pausing to view the magnificent Rhine Falls. Next travel to lakeside Lucerne for a two night stay.

Day 4

LUCERNE ORIENTATION AND AT LEISURE

Your orientation includes a visit to the poignant and reflective Lion Monument. Then time at leisure to take a mountain excursion or shop for Swiss watches. Later, why not join in the fun of a Swiss Folklore show?

Day 5

LUCERNE - PARIS (2 nights)

This morning travel into France, passing Belfort and the remains of the Maginot Line. Then stop to view the vineyards at Savigny-Lès-Beaune. Later arrive in the glittering city of Paris with the chance tonight to go to one of Europe’s finest cabaret shows!

Day 6

PARIS SIGHTSEEING AND AT LEISURE

Your guided sightseeing includes views of the Champs Élysées, Arc de Triomphe, Place de la Concorde and Notre Dame. Then ascend to the second level of the Eiffel Tower for spectacular city views. Tonight enjoy a Farewell Dinner together with your Tour Director and new-found friends.

Day 7

PARIS - LONDON

This morning drive across the battlefields of the Somme and see the Canadian War Memorial at Vimy Ridge. In Calais board your ferry to Dover, enjoying views of the famous White Cliffs as you approach England. Back in London bid farewell to new-found friends after this insightful tour of Europe.

Tonight we shall enjoy a tasty Swiss meal (one of the courses will be the famous Swiss cheese fondue) in a typical restaurant. Whilst you enjoy dinner, join in the fun of a lively folklore show which includes yodelling, flagthrowing, Alpine horn blowing and many other customary Swiss entertainment. Drinks are included.

SWISS HERITAGE

A chance to meet the Swiss, as local farmers take us on a delightful countryside tour in horse drawn carriages. Enjoy stunning scenery as we trot around a typical rural community, en route to a working farm where local drinks and snacks will be served at a 17th century barn.

MT RIGI LAKE CRUISE

We begin with a cruise across this most beautiful of the Swiss mountain lakes to arrive at Vitznau and the foot of Mt Rigi, the Queen of Mountains. A cog wheel train takes us effortlessly to the top, where we enjoy the scenic landscape, before descending by train and cable car via Kaltbad, to Weggis. (On certain departures the journey will be by cog wheel railway in both directions).

SEINE CRUISE PARIS BY NIGHT

Paris at night is a city transformed. Enjoy this superb 'city of light' as we take a leisurely cruise on the popular river boats under the bridges of Paris, admiring the wonderful buildings which adorn the banks of the River Seine. Afterwards, as we drive through this amazing city, we stop at some vantage points for you to capture these fascinating sights on camera. (In High Summer, this tour may take place before sunset).

VERSAILLES THE PALACE GARDENS

We leave the bustle of the city for the splendour of Versailles. Created by the “Sun King” Louis XIV, the palace became the envy of every other European ruler. Our guide takes us through the State apartments, including the famous Hall of Mirrors. All of this enhanced by our excellent audio system. Afterwards, take a stroll through the symmetrical tree-lined gardens. (NB. This optional is subject to availability).

LE GRAND LOUVRE

The Louvre - the biggest and best known museum in the world was once the palace of kings. Follow the expert guide through the sumptuous maze of galleries to see the main attractions including Leonardo da Vinci's masterpiece - the 'Mona Lisa', and the State Apartments decorated in the style of Emperor Napoleon III. Our visit will be enhanced by the effective use of our excellent audio system.
