Day 1

ARRIVE MUNICH

Welcome to Munich, capital of Bavaria. See the stadium built for the 1972 Olympics and the Marienplatz, with its fascinating Glockenspiel clock. Meet this evening for a Welcome Drink with your fellow travellers and Tour Director.

Day 2

MUNICH - REGENSBURG - PRAGUE (2 nights)

See the historic town of Regensburg on your way to the Czech Republic. Across the border, see Pilsen, renowned for its breweries, before reaching Prague. This exciting city is your home for the next two nights!

Day 3

PRAGUE SIGHTSEEING AND FREE TIME

Prague has prospered since the fall of Communism, and its new-found status and affluence is evident during your guided sightseeing tour of the city. Explore the impressive St. Vitus’ Cathedral in the grounds of the 1,000 year-old Prague Castle. Cross the river to the Old Town Square to see the Astronomical Clock. Spend the afternoon as you wish. Explore the city on your own, or consider a relaxing lunch cruise on the River Vltava. This evening, join your fellow travellers for a Highlight Dinner at a local restaurant.

Day 4

PRAGUE - BRATISLAVA - BUDAPEST (2 nights)

View the ancient city of Bratislava, capital of the Slovak Republic. Entering Hungary you arrive in Budapest on the banks of the River Danube.

Day 5

BUDAPEST SIGHTSEEING AND FREE TIME

Your Local Guide gives you a deep historical insight into Budapest during your included sightseeing tour of the city. From Fisherman’s Bastion enjoy superb views across the Parliament and the Danube. Spend time sightseeing on your own. Consider an excursion to Old Hungary or a guided tour of Parliament. Tonight, experience a memorable Be My Guest Hungarian dinner.

Day 6

BUDAPEST - GYOR - VIENNA (2 nights)

Crossing the Transdanubia region to Györ is a pleasant drive through beautiful countryside. Stroll through this quaint city, which stands at the confluence of three rivers and features charming Baroque architecture. Later arrive in imperial Vienna where you stay for the next two nights.

Day 7

VIENNA SIGHTSEEING AND FREE TIME

Admire the Hofburg Palace, the former winter residence of the Hapsburg Dynasty during your enthralling sightseeing tour of Vienna with your expert Local Guide. See the grand State Opera House, and the Ringstrasse, a beautiful sweeping boulevard built in the 19th century to replace the city walls. See St. Stephen’s Cathedral, its ornate roof bearing the imperial emblem of the Hapsburgs. The afternoon is yours to explore the city’s many attractions. Later, you might like to attend a classical concert.

Day 8

VIENNA - SALZBURG

Following the Danube Valley pass the impressive Benedictine monastery at Melk, and travel through Linz to Salzburg. See the Mirabell Gardens, Cathedral Square and Mozart’s birthplace with your expert Local Guide. Enjoy coffee or tea and a delicious Austrian cake in a traditional café in Salzburg.

Day 9

SALZBURG - MUNICH

Day 1

LONDON - PARIS (2 nights)

A warm welcome from your Tour Director as you travel to Dover to catch the ferry to France. See the Vimy Ridge Memorial en route to the glittering capital city of Paris. This evening enjoy a Welcome Drink with your Tour Director and fellow travellers.

Day 2

PARIS SIGHTSEEING AND AT LEISURE

Morning sightseeing with a local expert guide includes a drive along the Champs Élysées to the Arc de Triomphe, then on to the Eiffel Tower to ascend to the second level. Next you will enjoy views of Notre Dame Cathedral before free time to explore this enchanting city further. Perhaps take an excursion to the Louvre Museum to see the Mona Lisa.

Day 3

PARIS - LUCERNE

An early start today as you drive through the Burgundy vineyards, seeing the Castle of Châteauneuf. Continue past the remains of the Maginot Line at Belfort to reach the Swiss border at Basel. Then on to the lakeside resort of Lucerne where orientation shows you the wooden Chapel Bridge and the poignant Lion Monument. After dinner, enjoy a walk along the lakeshore.

Day 4

LUCERNE - VENICE

The St. Gotthard highway takes you past dramatic Alpine peaks and on to the Italian border at Chiasso. Glimpse Lake Como and skirt around Milan before continuing to the magical city of Venice.

Day 5

VENICE - FLORENCE

This morning your canal cruise takes you to St. Mark’s Square where you see the Bridge of Sighs and the Doge’s Palace. Finally witness a glass-blowing demonstration by a skilled craftsman before driving across the Apennines to the Renaissance city of Florence.

Day 6

FLORENCE - ROME (2 nights)

Your guided walking tour shows you the Cathedral, the Baptistery, Giotto’s Bell Tower and Signoria Square. It also visits Santa Croce Church where so many great Italians are buried including Michelangelo. Then time to shop for leather and gold before on to the ‘Eternal City’, Rome.

Day 7

ROME SIGHTSEEING AND AT LEISURE

Today your guided sightseeing tour visits St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican where you see the famous Pietà by Michelangelo. Then cross the Tiber to ancient Rome where you overlook the Forum and see the mighty Colosseum and the Circus Maximus where the chariot races took place. Tonight enjoy a Farewell Dinner together with your Tour Director and new-found friends.

DEPART ROME
