Day 1 to Day 3

to Day 3 - LONDON (3 nights)

After check-in to your hotel, the rest of your day is free to relax or enjoy some of the sights and sounds of the city. On your first full day in London you will enjoy an introductory morning sightseeing tour featuring Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament, Westminster Abbey and Buckingham Palace. The rest of your time in London is at leisure – perhaps take a walk in Hyde Park, see the dinosaurs in the Natural History Museum, mix with the famous and infamous in Madame Tussauds and take in a top stage production in one of London’s more than forty theatres in the West End!

Day 4 to Day 6

to Day 6 - PARIS (3 nights)

This morning your coach will transfer you to St Pancras Station for your Eurostar high-speed train service to Gare du Nord in central Paris. The next day enjoy a sightseeing tour which includes the ascent of the Eiffel Tower to the second level, a drive up the Champs Élysées to the Arc de Triomphe and views of Notre Dame Cathedral. Then time is yours to perhaps do some shopping or visit the splendid Palace of Versailles or the Louvre. Why not dine out on the Left Bank or enjoy some spectacular Parisian cabaret?

FLIGHT FROM PARIS TO ROME (3 nights)

Today after a leisurely breakfast you are transferred to the airport to take a short flight to Rome - the Eternal City. On arrival check-in to your city hotel for an evening at leisure.

Day 8 to Day 9

to Day 9 - ROME SIGHTSEEING

Enjoy two full days in this exciting city. Your sightseeing tour on the first morning with a local expert guide includes views of the Forum, Colosseum and the Circus Maximus, renowned for ‘Ben Hur’ style chariot races. You will also have an interior visit to St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican. Then Rome is yours to explore as you please. There is plenty of time to admire Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel, and shop along the elegant Via Condotti. In the evenings, perhaps discover Italy's mouth-watering cuisine in one of Rome's many restaurants.

We leave the bustle of the city for the splendour of Versailles. Created by the “Sun King” Louis XIV, the palace became the envy of every other European ruler. THE LOUVRE MONTMARTRE SEINE CRUISE

Day 2

PARIS SIGHTSEEING AND AT LEISURE

Today's sightseeing tour with a local expert guide includes the ascent of the Eiffel Tower to its second level for wonderful views over the city. Other highlights include views of Notre Dame Cathedral, the Arc de Triomphe, Place de la Concorde and the Champs Élysées before you enjoy a visit of Les Invalides with its golden dome. As part of the Army Museum, its most important relic is the tomb of France's most influential ruler, Napoleon Bonaparte. For the rest of the day you may choose to stroll through the Luxembourg gardens, visit the Palace of Versailles or relax over a 'café au lait.'

Day 3

PARIS - LOIRE VALLEY CHATEAUX - TOURS

First drive to Chartres – famous for its mighty Cathedral with striking blue stained glass windows. Built on a ley line, this spot has always been said to have mystical power! Then down to the valley of the quiet River Loire with its many beautiful villages and resplendent castles, home to French royalty over the centuries. Stop at Chambord to see the impressive château, and then visit fairytale Chenonceau, straddling the River Cher. Then continue to your hotel and enjoy a special 'Be My Guest' dinner of mouth-watering specialities in a local restaurant.

Day 4

TOURS - BOURGES - LYON

Today’s journey takes you through the very centre of France. First stop in Bourges to see the Palais Jacques Coeur, the Cathedral of St. Stephen and the delightful archbishop’s gardens. Then into the very centre of the ‘hexagon’, as the French often call their homeland, to stop at the village of St. Amand Montrond. Continue via the volcanic hills around Clermont Ferrand and on to Lyon – a gourmet paradise on the Rhône and Saône Rivers. A walking tour of the old city which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site reveals its rich and cultural past. It is the largest Renaissance district in France with its narrow streets, inner courtyards and ‘traboules’. Drive up the Fourvière hill to appreciate awe inspiring views over the city before continuing on to your hotel for dinner.

Day 5

LYON - CHATEAUNEUF DU PAPE - AVIGNON - NICE (2 nights)

Your first stop this morning is in the wine village of Châteauneuf-du-Pape where you stop to see the amazing vistas from the ruined fortress and visit one of the Côte du Rhône wine cellars to sample some of the delicious wine. You will discover that this wine has a very interesting Papal history which ties it to the city of Avignon which is your next stop. Here you will see the Papal Palace and famous ‘Pont’ (bridge) over the Rhône. Finally arrive in Nice where an orientation drive shows you the Promenade des Anglais and the Place Massena, before continuing on to your hotel.

Day 6

NICE - EXCURSION TO MONTE CARLO

A free morning to relax and take a stroll along the Promenade or shop in the trendy boutiques! Nice will delight you with its many delicious pastry shops and the temperate climate. Later this afternoon enjoy a scenic drive along the Côte d’Azur to visit Monaco and Monte Carlo. Here see the beautiful casino built by Charles Garnier in the 19th century and have free time to explore the Principality.

Day 7

NICE - CANNES - BARCELONA (2 nights)

A short drive to ‘la Croisette’ in glamorous Cannes where you have time to admire the yachts in the marina. See the Film Festival Centre before re-joining the highway to drive through Provençal landscapes reminiscent of Van Gogh paintings. Then on past the Camargue National Park to the border with Spain. Cross over the foothills of the Pyrénées and you are soon in the region of Spanish Catalonia. Continue past olive groves and vineyards before approaching the ‘avant-garde’ city of Barcelona – a cosmopolitan port on the Mediterranean.

Day 8

BARCELONA SIGHTSEEING AND AT LEISURE

Your morning sightseeing tour with an expert local guide takes you on a walk through the Gothic Quarter with its impressive Cathedral. See Gaudi's Sagrada Familia as well as many of his other eccentric architectural masterpieces. Later have free time to view the Columbus Monument and go exploring down the Ramblas. Perhaps take an optional excursion to mystical Montserrat to see the Black Madonna this afternoon. NILE CRUISE: EDFU - KOM-OMBO

Visit Egypt’s best-preserved cult temple at Edfu, dedicated to the falcon god Horus. Relax and admire the scenery as you sail upstream to Kom-Ombo - little has changed in a thousand years! This evening, dress up in traditional clothing and experience a fun-filled Egyptian Dinner and Galabea Party.

Day 5

NILE CRUISE: KOM-OMBO - ASWAN

Tour the Temple of Kom-Ombo, dedicated to the crocodile-headed god, Sobek. Sail from Aswan in a traditional felucca across the Nile to see the Botanical Gardens on Kitchener’s Island. A blood-red sunset is common in Aswan, the more breathtaking with the silhouette of dozens of feluccas set against it.

Day 6

DISEMBARK - ASWAN - CAIRO (3 nights)

Disembark to explore the High Dam. Visit the Temple of Isis on the Island of Philae. See the Unfinished Obelisk. Later consider an optional excursion to the mighty Sun Temple of Abu Simbel - a once in a lifetime opportunity - where four giant stone statues of Ramses II guard the temple’s entrance. This evening fly back to Cairo from Aswan.

CAIRO SIGHTSEEING

Thousands of years of history are brought to life during your full day of sightseeing. See the ancient Citadel, built to protect the city from the Crusaders. Marvel at the Alabaster Mosque’s ornate interior and the Sultan Hassan Mosque, one of the masterpieces of Mamluk architecture. Visit the Hanging Church of St. Mary in Old Cairo and see Tutankhamun’s priceless treasures at the Egyptian Museum, discovered by Howard Carter in the Valley of the Kings in 1922. Spend the evening as you wish.

CAIRO - PYRAMID EXCURSION

See the limestone Colossus of Ramses II and the giant Alabaster Sphinx at Memphis. Admire the Step Pyramid at Sakkara, which heralded the beginning of the pyramid age. Marvel at the Great Pyramids of Giza, one of the seven wonders of the ancient world. See the enigmatic Great Sphinx - the oldest monumental sculpture in the world. The evening is yours to do as you please. Perhaps complete your Cairo experience with a romantic dinner cruise on the Nile.

SEVILLE - GRANADA

Visit the magnificent Alhambra Palace in Granada with your expert Local Guide. A fine example of Moorish architecture, it was built during the 14th century towards the end of Islamic rule in Spain. See the exotic water gardens of the Generalife, the royal summer palace, once linked to the Alhambra by a covered walkway across the ravine. The views over the town and surrounding hills are spectacular. Tonight, join your travelling companions for a Highlight Dinner of local specialities in a nearby restaurant.

GRANADA - VALENCIA
